The Colour Abundant World: Anti-Racism Prophetic Witness Team supports communities of faith with resources, expertise and other means of assistance to mobilize members of the Eastern Ohio and Western Reserve Associations of the United Church of Christ to create a world where all people are equally valued and all cultures are celebrated.
The Colour Abundant World Prophetic Witness Team held a series of conversations on race and reconciliation.
The first hour-long, web-based conversation was with Rev. Dr. Alice Hunt, President of Chicago Theological Seminary focused on The Theology of Anti-Racism, and featured a panel of responders that included UCC President Rev. Geoffrey Black, Associations General Minister Rev. Dr. Rita Root and Rev. Dr. Eugene McAfee, Pastor of Faith UCC in Richmond Heights. View the recording.
The second topic was Faith Communities, Politics and Race. The presenter was Earl Williams who is currently serving his third term on the Shaker Heights City Council. View the recording.
The third conversation featured a presentation by Dr. Sharon Ellis Davis on Race, Policing and Communities of Faith. Rev. Dr. Davis is a pastor of the United Church of Christ who served as a Chicago police officer for 31 years and, upon retirement, as a full-time police chaplain. View the recording.
The fourth conversation was at The Amistad Chapel (700 Prospect Ave E, Cleveland) General Minister and President Nominee John Dorhauer’s presentation on privilege and racism was titled Our Possessive Investment in Whiteness. View the recording.
