Topic: Community Organizing 101
Churches help people. It’s what we do because of who we are. But is our help truly effective? Benevolence (pastor’s discretionary fund) and community service models are fine when a society works for most of its members. But when society itself is broken, the sheer number of people facing immediate need can overwhelm a church’s best intentions. This is where the community engagement model shines with its distinction between community service and community engagement. Highly interactive and highly informative, this session will equip you to see how your congregation can make a huge difference in the lives of people.
